Remarks:
The Protocol amends the following chapters of the original FTA: National Treatment and Market Access for goods, Rules of Origin, Trade Remedies including safeguards, and Investment. A new chapter on Customs Cooperation was added. The amendments were aimed at the substantial reduction and elimination of trade restrictive measures.
